JOHNSON’S® celebrates its 125th year
Celebrating a Legacy Built on Science and Love
JOHNSON’S® celebrates its 125th year through year-long
Special activities
and promotions
JOHNSON’S® has been pioneering and setting global standards in baby skin care for families globally since many can remember. This year marks a special milestone as JOHNSON’S® celebrates 125 years with a series of activities to celebrate its legacy in creating a safer world for babies and their families in the Philippines.
“JOHNSON’S® 125-year legacy is our dedication to giving our best for mothers and babies,” shares Ms. Bessie Colet Campillo, Johnson’s Marketing Manager. “Just as mothers learn from babies, so does Johnson’s. We understand what great lengths mothers go through to give their best for their babies, and that is the same effort we emulate in all the products we develop. Our products have always been some of the most rigorously tested and safe, globally, and created specifically to care for a baby’s unique needs,” she adds. “A baby’s needs are very much different than our own. Each sense, from sight to touch, and through all the moments of play and exploration that our babies go through as they develop, are opportunities to nurture their happy and healthy development. All these moments are also opportunities for us to empower parents to maximize bonding with their babies to nurture the best development possible,” she concludes
How to scam-proof your travel abroad
Travelling is a great way to unwind and enjoy what life has
to offer, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be mindful of your safety.
Scams abound in every part of the world. As the travel industry grows in popularity,
scammers and other criminals are also growing in numbers, devising ways to
trick unsuspecting tourists from transportation overcharge and forced purchases
to ATM skimming and credit card fraud.
PSBank advises travelers to exercise caution when setting
foot in foreign lands. Here are some safety measures you can take for a
scam-free and enjoyable vacation:
Inform your bank or Credit Card Company if you're
travelling outside of the country. Although most banks have systems in place
where they will send you an SMS alert to confirm a purchase before they are
processed, and/or a text message and email notification to inform you of your
transactions, you will be helping your bank monitor and secure your accounts
from any suspicious usage by informing them of your travel plans. This way your
bank won’t assume that your debit, prepaid or credit card is being used
fraudulently and block it.

clear picture of his finances, and create a suitable financial plan towards

CES 2018: LG showcases OLED’s full capabilities
t this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), high-tech
companies and manufacturers are given the opportunity to showcase their latest
upcoming products and concepts, pushing the boundaries of bleeding edge
technology. It's only fitting, then, that LG Electronics opted to show off some
of the best-ever demonstrations of its flagship OLED technologies.
For CES, LG wowed attendees with its OLED Canyon, a
mesmerizing walkway that consists of over 246 LG Open Frame OLED displays.
Audiences walked through the Canyon, which was 90 feet in length, flanked on
both sides by hundreds of concave and convex displays showing brilliant natural
imagery, ranging from waterfalls and caves to glaciers and seascapes. The rich,
vibrant colors of the OLED screens contributed to an unparalleled sense of
immersion that had audiences snapping photos at every turn.
Another one of LG’s incredible showcases was a 65-inch
rollable OLED display. While it's not the first time LG demonstrated the
amazingly flexible properties of OLED panels - in 2016, LG demoed a bendy
18-inch prototype - it's the first time that the technology has been seen scaled
up to the size of a typical large TV. When unrolled, the huge 4K display
featured all the hallmarks of LG’s best OLED televisions, with incredible
contrast and vivid colors, but at the touch of a button, it retracted into its
base until it was completely out of sight, rolled up within. Other options
included partly descending into the base, switching from a 16:9 widescreen
aspect ratio to a 21:9 ultrawide, allowing you to view movies shot at cinematic
aspect ratios without any letterboxing. Another option caused the display to
sink almost all the way into the base, revealing only a small strip that
displayed updates, controls, and notifications.
While these technologies represent visions of the future
that may not be coming to your living room any time soon, LG had more up its
sleeve for current customers in the form of the LG Signature OLED W8, its
latest flagship TV. The W8 includes further enhancements to the display
technology, along with a whole host of new features that highlight it as one of
the best TVs you can buy. One feature is the integration of Google Assistant
into the webOS Smart TV platform, allowing you to use intuitive voice commands
to control the W8, search the Web, control IoT and smart home devices, and
more. Another is the inclusion of a 4.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar that provides
incredible sound to match any content that you can throw at it. The soundbar
also serves as the input source for the TV, and connects to it via a stunningly
thin cable.
As other manufacturers enter the market with their own OLED
models, LG’s pioneering efforts and technological leadership in the field are
what allow it to stay on top. These and other demonstrations of LG’s OLED
technology truly cement LG’s status as the No. 1 OLED brand.
To experience LG’s OLED technology for yourself, please

#2018FamilyGoals: Save together for the future
Neilsen’s Second Quarter Global Consumer Confidence and
Spending Report says almost six in 10 Filipinos prefer to save their extra
cash. However, according to the Bangko
Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) third quarter Consumer Expectations Survey (CES),
fewer Filipino families believe they can set aside money for savings. Various
studies also show that the country lags behind its neighbors in Southeast Asia
in terms of savings. While many
Filipinos want to save up for the family, they do not know how to start or to
properly go about it.
We believe that setting aside money for a rainy day is
important, but we also understand that sometimes our expenses make it almost
impossible to do. You don’t need to do
it alone. You can get the whole family
on board with your money-saving efforts and future goals. Though it will be hard at first, with proper
discipline, right attitude, constant reminders, and having your family
involved, will make saving easier.

THE DANGERS OF SIDE EFFECTS PRESENTED AS MAIN EFFECTS
In the medical world, proper use of words is highly called for because a simple
mistake could complicate things usually unwanted for the patients. Because this
field has full of jargons that mostly are too technical to not easily be sifted
and digested by the general public, putting them in a layman’s term is indeed
helpful.
A good example of which are the words “side effect” and “main effect”. These,
are more often than not, interchanged or used instead of the other. Doing so is
not just wrong but also dangerous to the people’s health.
A side effect of any substance pertains to the result beyond the main or
primary action that is intended by the physician giving drug prescription. The
doctor, likewise, foresees this extra consequence.
For instance, the patient might not be conscious of the side effect of unwanted
hair growth elsewhere on the body while using vasodilator drug called Minoxidil
to treat hypertension. The physician, nevertheless, is very well aware about
it, as well as other implications, such as burning or irritation of the eye,
itching, and redness or irritation at the treated area. By and large, doctors
suggest that patients should ignore the side effects unless serious and often
alert the sick persons about their likelihood.
But not all the side effects are boon. They are bane, too, hence, they are
often used as a therapeutic benefit in the pharmaceutical industry. Like the
Minoxidil which, initially was developed to treat high blood pressure. People
taking it reported an unusual side effect: Hair began to grow on various parts
of their bodies. In this case, the downside of the drug is controlled and
employed for a beneficial and therapeutic effect judiciously. It is noted that
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved prescription of two percent
(2%) Minoxidil topical solution for hair loss in men in 1988 and for women in
1992.

How to achieve your #balikalindog goals
Here’s how you can answer both your biggest New Year’s
Resolutions with one solution
It’s that time of the year when everyone thinks of #Goals
to make or break for the year. Before you get tempted to create a long list of
to do’s and must haves for 2018, focus on must do’s. Simple resolutions can
bring you a long way if they’re doable, feasible, and impactful.
On your new journey toward living better next year you may
come across challenges. But with a strong and dependable partner to lend you a
hand, ticking off the must do’s in your list will be an easier and more
rewarding experience.
