A Marriott Hospitality Training Center Opens in Philippine School For the Deaf

Marriott Manila is known to be a leader in the hospitality industry, not only in the business facet, but also in corporate social responsibility. In their annual Brigada Eskwela participation, Marriott launches a Hospitality Training Center in the Philippine School for the Deaf. The development is part of the long-term partnership of the hotel and school to achieve impactful and sustainable results for the kids with disabilities.

The two-story facility is a venue for the new housekeeping course for their senior high students. Who else is best to mentor them than Marriott associates themselves; so the hotel donated furniture for the mock-up room, such as rollaways beds, beddings, sofas and television set. They conducted bed making demonstration and have scheduled other housekeeping lessons in the coming months. But before polishing the interiors, the hotel has been involved in the reconstruction of the building and at the Brigada Eskwela activity, 60 associates volunteered for the final retouches on painting and cleaning the exteriors and corners to look good as new.

This outreach program is an integral part of their annual Associate Appreciation Week, and moreso, their brand’s core value of serving the world. Marriott worldwide strives to be a force for good wherever operate. In Manila, the Cluster General Manager Bruce Winton emphasizes this, “It is important to be fully engaged in our community in creating a much more meaningful long-term impact.” This shows how Marriott redefines hospitality – going beyond their premises and being a positive influence to its community.
