Unioil opened to the public its 2nd Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station at Unioil EDSA Guadalupe

UNIOIL PETROLEUM PHILIPPINES, INC.  OPENS ITS SECOND ELECTRIC VEHICLE FAST CHARGING STATION IN UNIOIL EDSA GUADALUPE, MAKATI LAST WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2018.

Unioil successfully opened to the public its second Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station located at Unioil EDSA Guadalupe (Northbound) Station in Makati City to conveniently serve customers with electric vehicles passing through EDSA, the main thoroughfare of Metro Manila. Unioil’s fast EV charging station can safely and conveniently charge a variety of US, European, and Japanese electric vehicles.

Unioil was the first petroleum company in the Philippines that launched an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facility last November 27, 2017 at Unioil Congressional Avenue Extension, Quezon City, Metro Manila.

Unioil President, Kenneth C. Pundanera said, “We are proud to open today Unioil’s second electric vehicle charging station located at Unioil Edsa Guadalupe, Makati.  This EV charging station is equipped with the latest Chademo fast charging protocol compatible with most Japanese, US and European cars.  We want to encourage more people to begin considering the use of electric powered vehicles.  We want to make available the infrastructure needed to pave the way for much cleaner forms of transportation.  This is consistent with Unioil’s advocacy to find ways in Doing our Part for a cleaner environment.”

Atty. Jay Layug, the DOE - National Renewable Energy Board Chairman, said,” The use of electronic vehicles (EV) is recognized by many countries as a means to decarbonize the transportation sector. A promising action for improving energy efficiency and mitigating greenhouse gases emissions, Unioil now introduces the first EV station that can charge EV batteries quickly.  It is about time that the Philippines recognize the use of EV as a more environmentally-friendly mode of transport.”

Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian, Chairman of the Senate Committees on Energy, and Economic Affairs, said, “I commend Unioil for taking the initiative to spur EV development in the country through the construction of charging stations. In addition, Unioil’s environmental contribution through the use of technology in their charging stations that reduces carbon footprint by 4.7 metric tons annually is notable.”
